Diet Coke’s ‘Sparkle’ Ad Makes a Comeback

Perhaps you’ve seen this ad make a comeback in the rotation of some of your favorite shows lately:

It’s a catchy commercial, but what’s special is that it originally took the screen in Spring 2005. Now, three years later, it’s made a comeback.

So, what’s that tell us? Is Diet Coke lacking the creative juices to improve with something new, or are they wise enough to go back to something that, apparrently, worked? What do you think?

  1. For some reason, this is one of my favorite commercials. Its got a good vibe to it.

  2. Yeah, it does have a good vibe. Pretty interesting to watch all that roller skating. At the same time, it feels retro, and I don’t get the bubbles.

  3. Harris – what does that talk mean? You think this is a form of Guerrilla Marketing? How?

  4. I too have loved this commercial for some reason (weird). To me it imbibes summer and all things fun. If the commercial has not lost its sparkle (lame, I know) I say go for it.

  5. This is a rip off of Nilsson’s “Everybody’s Talking About Me” from soundtrack of Midnight Cowboy, 1960’s.

  6. HT – never heard it, but I’ll have to check it out. When doing my research for this post, I did notice that most people are attracted to the song more than anything.

  7. who sings this song???

  8. Oakenfold is the artist. The song is called “Starry Eyed Surprise”

  9. HT, I think the riff in this song is similar to the opening bars of “Everybody’s Talking About Me,” but that’s all. Really like the commercial. Are there any words in the clouds at the beginning?

  10. Yeah! everybody like this ad because is a good film but even for the subliminal words hidden on the bubbles. SEX. Anyways Kate Beckinsale is enougth to think about it ha haaa haaa. H
